Eight Houses School (Ba zhai pai) is one of the basic and easiest formula in feng shui. It is like learning the alphabets but alphabets are important.

In the Eight house school (Ba zhai pai) of feng shui the kua number is used to derive the four auspicious and inauspicious location of a house and direction of a person and the house. In this article I am writing about the personal directions. A person can use these directions to achieve the best that life has to offer him or her.

What does a kua number represent?
Many times amongst my colleagues and clients I have heard people either saying or asking "My kua no is 1" or "What is my kua number?"

Most of us know how to derive the kua number, the formula can be found in almost every feng shui book. The kua number is the number of the trigram it represents in the later heaven sequence. There are 9 numbers, which are called kua numbers, respectively 1-9. Each number represents a trigram and the attributes of that particular trigram.

Does it mean that it totally defines a person? No it does not; it is just one aspect of the person like the zodiac sign (sun sign) of a person but our entire horoscope comprises of other aspects like the moon sign, the ascendants and the position of other planets. These other aspects affect us. To further explain it, it can be said that not all Capricorns fall in love the same day nor are all Aries eccentric. Although the basic trait does exist it differs from person to person.

How can you use the Eight Houses formula for your benefit?
The Eight Houses feng shui formula gives the four auspicious and inauspicious location and direction of a person. What do we do once we derive the directions and location?

It is essential to know the difference between location and direction. Location represents the area and direction represents where one is facing. In case of bed head - facing would mean the direction of the head of the person or the direction towards which one would place the back of the bed, so that when you lie down the direction your head points towards is an auspicious direction.

For example in the diagram given above, the standing person is represented by X and the arrow represents the direction he is facing. Therefore he is located in North and facing the South. ulas.

SPECIAL TIPS

On locating main doors and doors

  • Main doors should preferably be located in Sheng Qi area.
  • Main doors should preferably be facing Sheng Qi direction.
  • Main doors should at least be facing Fu wei direction.
  • Bedroom doors can be facing Yen Nien direction.
  • Study doors should preferably be facing Sheng Qi direction.

On locating rooms

  • Important rooms should preferably be located in the four auspicious areas.
  • Bedrooms should preferably be located in the Yen Nien area.
  • Study room should preferably be located in the Sheng Qi area.
  • Toilets can be located in any of the four inauspicious areas.
  • Kitchen can be located in any of the four inauspicious areas.

On desks and beds

  • Working desk should preferably be facing Sheng Qi direction.
  • The second option for working desk is to face the Fu Wei direction.
  • Bed head should be orientated to face Tien Yi or Yen Nien.
  • Bed should be located in Tien Yi or Yen Nien area of the room.

It is not always advisable to use Sheng Qi for bed head direction especially for hyperactive people. Even with children it is advisable to use the Yen Nien direction, as this will make them more obedient. Sometimes orientating the furniture to get Sheng Qi might be not possible in these cases the least one could try for is to use Fu wei.
