Over the past few months I have written about various applications of the bazhai formula. In my articles I have included different methods used by contemporary masters. This month I continue with the series on how to apply the bazhai formula to get the optimum from your home/office.

Before I start do remember for personal directions the personal gua formula is applied and for finding the suitable location in your house the house gua formula is applied.

Rule 9 - locating the toilet and the store
9.1 - Most contemporary masters agree that the toilets and store should be located in the inauspicious sectors of the house. That would be chueh ming, liu sha, wu gwei and ho hai areas of the house. To know the inauspicious sectors of your house/office click here.

9.2 - A few contemporary masters say that if inauspicious sectors of the house and personal auspicious directions clash then it is necessary to use the areas that are less problematic. For e.g. you are gua 7 and you are living in a south sitting house. Your personal auspicious directions are - northwest (sheng qi), southwest(tien yi), northeast (yen nien) and west (fu wei). Your house inauspicious sectors are northwest (chueh ming), southwest(liu sha), northeast (ho hai) and west (wu gwei). In this case it some masters would recommend using northeast (ho hai - house and yen nien - personal) to locate the toilet or the store.

Rule 10 - internal corridors
Internal corridors act as carriers of qi inside the house. It is a known fact that not all rooms can be located in auspicious areas sometimes due to space and design constraints a portion of the room or the whole room may be in an inauspicious sector. In such cases it is essential to manipulate the flow of qi to neutralize the inauspicious effects.

10.1 - Most contemporary masters agree that auspicious qi brought in by internal pathways can negate the inauspicious qi in a room.

10.2 - Some contemporary masters follow these rules - if room is located in ho hai area then fu wei would be best to negate the effects, for wu gwei it is sheng qi, liu sha is yen nien and chueh ming in tien yi.

Observation for 10.2 - For advanced students of feng shui you will realize that in wuxing or five element interaction the auspicious qi generates the inauspicious qi e.g. sheng qi is wood element and wu gwei is fire. The underlying theory here is that the source or birth of the inauspicious element is auspicious therefore it negates the inauspicious qi.

Next month how to use bazhai for your children and babies.
